Payment & Cancellation Policy

At JM Tours, we are committed to providing transparent, reliable, and professional travel services across Tanzania.

The following Payment Terms and Cancellation Policy outline the conditions for booking, payments, changes, and cancellations for all our safari, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar experiences.

We kindly ask all clients to read this information carefully before confirming their booking, as it helps ensure a smooth and well-organised travel experience for everyone.

Payment Terms

1. Booking & Deposit

To confirm any booking, a non-refundable deposit of not more than 50% of the total trip cost is required.

  • Bookings are not confirmed until the deposit is received.

2. Final Payment

The remaining balance must be paid:

  • 20 days before arrival (standard trips)
  • 30 days before arrival (peak season / large groups)

3. Last-Minute Bookings

For bookings made within 30 days of arrival, → 100% payment is required upfront

4. Payment Methods

We accept:

  • Bank Transfer (TT)
  • Online VISA & MASTERCARD

Note: All bank charges are the responsibility of the client.

5. Currency

All prices are quoted in USD unless stated otherwise.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing via email.

All hotels and domestic airlines have different cancellation policies, where once cancelled, they only issue a credit note, which can be used in a future booking and is valid within 12 months of issuance, as it will expire afterwards.

1. Cancellation fees (based on hotels and domestic airlines)

  • More than 91 days before arrival → charged 0% from the amount deposited
  • 90-65 days before arrival → charged 25% from the amount deposited
  • 64-45 days before arrival → charged 50% from the amount deposited
  • 44-16 days before arrival → charged 75% from the amount deposited
  • 15-0 days before arrival → charged 100% from the amount paid

2. Cancellation During Trip

If a client cancels during the trip:

  • No refunds for unused services. This includes early descent (Kilimanjaro) and safari interruption due to a natural disaster, and the traveller participates at their own risk.

3. Changes by client

  • Date changes allowed, subject to availability
  • Changes within 65 days may incur additional costs

4. Refund rules

  • J.M. Tours will refund the amount that was spent on park entrance fees once the permits are successfully paid.
  • You can convert a credit note into travel credit valid for 12 months and use it for a future safari or transferred to a family member, friend, or loved one if you prefer.
  • Alternatively, J.M. Tours can use your credit note for upcoming groups and send you a refund (we will do our best to allocate the rooms to other guests within 12 months). As soon as we can sell the rooms, we will refund you.
  • J.M. Tours Ltd will deduct service charges of $95 (inclusive of taxes) and bank charges before sending the refund money

5. Cancellation by Company

If we must cancel due to Safety concerns or Government regulations

We will offer:

  • Alternative dates OR
  • Alternative itinerary OR
  • Partial/full refund depending on circumstances

Force Majeure

We are not liable for cancellations caused by natural disasters, Pandemics, or Airline disruptions

In such cases:

  • We will try to reschedule your trip or
  • Refunds depend on third-party providers (hotels, airlines, etc.).

Travel Insurance

All clients are advised to have travel insurance covering:

  • Trip cancellation
  • Medical emergencies
  • Evacuation (especially for Mountain climbs)
