Kilimanjaro Best Time

June to October

The best weather and the main climbing season for Kilimanjaro Mountain, and the busiest time on the mountain.

November to December

The short rainy season, but in the afternoon, rains are common, but skies are clear in the mornings and evenings

January and February

They are usually dry, bright days with decent visibility. Over 14,000 feet, there's a significant likelihood of snow.

March to May

In late March, we start receiving heavy rains, making the trails muddy and challenging to climb, along with cloudy skies. You can get lucky with some dry weather, but it's not guaranteed. We recommend climbing Kilimanjaro via the mountain's north side.

November and December 18-32 53-63 Short rains increase, making paths slippery. The hiking conditions become more serious; proceed with caution. Frequent rains could disrupt travel. Stay careful on wet pathways.
January and February 17-33 35-50 Perfect warm and dry weather for walking in the lower elevations. Higher zones are colder. Temperatures rise somewhat, making trekking more enjoyable, although high locations remain cold. Overall, great condition.
March to May 18-32 119-236 Long rains begin; paths become slippery. Climbing is difficult—avoid April-May. Heavy rains peak; ascending is challenging. Rain continues; walkways remain wet and muddy.

Anyone from children over the age of 10 to older generations in their 70s can climb and reach the summit.

Pro advice: Hiking is the most fun activity you will ever do in your life! It is tough yet rewarding. The actual issue is the elevation and pace of ascent.
